    Q1:
What is the Naturalisation Eligibility Tool?
    A:
The Naturalisation Eligibility Tool (NET) is an online self-assessment system which assists foreigners working and staying in Singapore to assess if they are eligible for either Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) or Singapore Citizenship (SC).

    Q2:
Do I need a password to log-in to use the system?
    A:
No, you do not need any password to use the system.

    Q3:
Do I have to pay to use the system?
    A:
The system is a free online self-assessment system. Hence, there is no need to pay for its usage.

    Q4:
    Can anyone use the system?
    A:
The system is meant for foreigners who are already staying and working in Singapore. If you are a foreigner and are currently not based in Singapore, you may still use the system but please note that your assessment is only hypothetical.

If you wish to use the system to check if you are eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR), you should be a P, Q or S work-pass holder.

If you wish to use the system to check if you are eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC), you will have to be a Singapore Permanent Resident already. In Singapore, you will need to be a Permanent Resident before you are eligible to apply for SC.

    Q5:
Can my family members use the system to check their eligibility for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) / Singapore Citizenship (SC)?
    A:
Yes, the system is meant for all foreigners who are already staying and working in Singapore.

If your family member wishes to use the system to check if he/she is eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR), he/she should be a P, Q or S work-pass holder. If he/she is holding a Dependent's Pass, Long Term Visit Pass or Student's Pass, he/she can still use the system but the assessment is hypothetical only.

If your family member wishes to use the system to check if he/she is eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC), he/she will need to be a Permanent Resident in Singapore already.

    Q6:
If the assessment indicated that I am eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) or Singapore Citizenship (SC), does it mean that my family members are eligible as well?
    A:
No, it does not mean that your family members are also eligible. The assessment is meant for you only as you have provided your own personal information. Your family members will have to use the system themselves and provide their own personal information for assessment. However, if they are holding Dependent's Passes, you may apply for SPR and include them as dependents when you apply for SPR yourself.

    Q7:
If the assessment indicated that I am eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR), does it mean I will definitely get SPR?
    A:
No, the system only allows one to assess if he or she is eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR). It does not guarantee or imply approval for SPR. An in-depth assessment is required for SPR application. The system is NOT an application tool for SPR.

    Q8:
If the assessment indicated that I am eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC), does it mean I will definitely get SC?
    A:
No, the system only allows one to assess if he or she is eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC). It does not guarantee or imply approval for SC. An in-depth assessment is required for the SC application. The system is NOT an application tool for SC.

    Q9:
Once the assessment indicated that I am eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR), does it mean that I can get SPR without having to apply for it?
    A:
No, the system only allows one to assess if he or she is eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR). It is NOT an application tool for SPR and it also does not guarantee or imply approval for SPR.

    Q10:
Once the assessment indicated that I am eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC), does it mean that I can get SC without having to apply for it?
    A:
No, the system only allows one to assess if he or she is eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC). It is NOT an application tool for SC and it also does not guarantee or imply approval for SC.

If the assessment indicated that you are eligible for SC, you may submit your application for SC on-line via e-SC.

    Q11:
Must I use the system before applying for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR)?
    A:
NET is an on-line self-assessment tool that assists foreigners staying and working in Singapore to assess if they are eligible for Singapore Permanent Residence. It is not an application tool for SPR. However, if you intend to submit your application for SPR on-line via e-PR, you will have to use NET first before you can gain access to e-PR.

    Q12:
Must I use the system before applying for Singapore Citizenship (SC)?
    A:
NET is an on-line self-assessment tool that assists foreigners staying and working in Singapore to assess if they are eligible for Singapore Citizenship (SC). It is not an application tool for SC. However, if you intend to submit your application for SC on-line via e-SC, you will have to use NET first before you can gain access to e-SC.

    Q13:
I am a foreigner staying and working overseas but interested in Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) Can I use the system?
    A:
Yes, you may use the system but your assessment is hypothetical only. This is because the system mainly assists foreigners who are already working in Singapore on P, Q or S work passes to assess if they are eligible for SPR. You will only be able to provide certain information required for the assessment if you are working in Singapore.

    Q14:
I do not have a work pass, how do I use your system which requires me to provide this information?
    A:
You may wish to get a preliminary assessment of the likelihood of obtaining a work pass to work in Singapore at http://sat.mom.gov.sg/ and getting more information on a work pass in Singapore at http://www.mom.gov.sg before using the system.

After getting the information on the probability of work pass type in Singapore, you can proceed to use the system. However, since you are only able to provide the information of a probable work pass type, your assessment will be hypothetical only.

    Q15:
I am not married, how do I use your system which requires me to provide information on spouse and child(ren)?
    A:
Since you are not married, you need not provide information with regard to spouse and child(ren). You only need to provide information under the ‘Personal Information’ Section.

    Q16:
How do I know the outcome of my assessment?
    A:
After you have answered all the questions in the questionnaire, you can click the button for your result. The result of your assessment will be displayed in about a minute.

    Q17:
My previous assessment (after using the system) indicated that I am not eligible. However, my circumstances have since changed, should I use the system to check my eligibility for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) / Singapore Citizenship again (SC)?
    A:
If your personal information changes over time, you are advised to use the system to re-assess your eligibility for SPR/SC. This is because the accuracy of the assessment from the system is dependent on the information you provide in the questionnaire.

    Q18:
Do I have to submit my supporting documents to your department for verification after I have used the system?
    A:
No, there is no need to. The system is NOT an application tool for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) or Singapore Citizenship (SC). It is only meant to be used as a tool to find out your eligibility for SPR or SC.

If the assessment indicated that you are eligible for SPR, and you are interested to apply, you can access e-PR to submit your application for SPR on-line.

If the assessment indicated that you are eligible for SC, and you are interested to apply, you can access e-SC to submit your application for SC on-line.

    Q19:
I have gotten a “Green” result for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) and note that I can apply for SPR on-line. Why do I have to put in my application again? Isn’t the information that I have just provided for NET counted as the application for SPR?
    A:
NET is not an application tool for SPR. It is a preliminary assessment tool to find out your eligibility for SPR. The NET result also does not guarantee nor imply the approval of any SPR application.

    Q20:

Why can’t the same information that I have provided for NET be used for my Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) application on-line? Why do I need to provide the same information again?
    A:
NET and e-PR (Singapore Permanent Residence on-line) are two different systems. NET is a preliminary assessment tool to find out your eligibility for SPR while e-PR is an application tool for SPR. Therefore, the information provided in NET is not transferred to the e-PR system.

    Q22:
Why can’t the same information that I have provided for NET be used for my Singapore Citizenship (SC) application on-line? Why do I need to provide the same information again?

    Q23:
I have gotten a “Green” result for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR). What does the “Apply Now” and “Apply Later” mean?
    A:
A “Green” result implies that you are eligible for SPR. You may choose to apply now or later. If you choose “Apply Now” after providing your FIN, it will bring you to the e-PR website where you may submit your application for SPR on-line.

If you choose “Apply Later”, you may submit your application for SPR via e-PR at another time without having to use NET again. However, you must do so within 14 days after using NET. After 14 days, you will need to use NET again to access e-PR.

    Q24:
I have gotten a “Green” result for Singapore Citizenship (SC). What does the “Apply Now” and “Apply Later” mean?
    A:
A “Green” result implies that you are eligible for SC. You may choose to apply now or later. If you choose “Apply Now” after providing your NRIC, it will bring you to the e-SC website where you may submit your application for SC on-line.

If you choose “Apply Later”, you may submit your application for SC via e-SC at another time without having to use NET again. However, you must do so within 14 days after using NET. After 14 days, you will need to use NET again to access e-SC.

    Q25:
Why do I have to apply for Singapore Permanent Residence (SPR) on-line within 14 days of using NET? What happens after 14 days?
    A:
After 14 days, the eligibility result (i.e. Green Result) obtained from NET is no longer captured. Therefore, you will need to use NET again to access e-PR since NET is a prerequisite for using e-PR. NET is a preliminary assessment tool for you to find out your eligibility for SPR. It is a required step before you can submit your application for SPR on-line via e-PR if you are eligible, i.e. a “Green Result”.
